Internships are stepping stones to professional growth, and my two-month tenure as a Finance Executive Intern at Abhyaz was no exception. This experience was both enriching and transformative, allowing me to gain hands-on exposure to real-world financial operations while enhancing my technical and analytical skills.

One of the key highlights of my internship was working extensively with Zoho Books, a comprehensive cloud-based accounting platform. Under the expert guidance of my mentor, I delved into various features of this tool, becoming adept at navigating its functionalities. Some of the areas I explored include:

Chart of Accounts: I gained a clear understanding of how to set up and manage the chart of accounts, ensuring accurate categorization of financial transactions by exploring the tool and making documentation on it.

Tax Filing and Tax Returns: I also got an understanding of filing GSTR directly from Zoho Books.

Sales and Purchases: I got a clear picture on how the sales and purchases or income and expenses make changes to the books.

Beyond technical skills, my time at Abhyaz allowed me to develop essential soft skills, including attention to detail, effective communication, and time management. Regular feedback sessions with my mentor helped me refine my approach to tasks and deepen my understanding of financial processes. I also became familiar with other Zoho tools and platforms, like Github, Lumi, Canva and OBS Studio which were new to me.

Reflecting on these two months, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the organization while building a solid foundation in finance and accounting. This internship has boosted my confidence and equipped me with practical knowledge that will undoubtedly benefit me in my future endeavours.

For anyone considering a career in finance, internships like these offer invaluable insights and experiences that textbooks alone cannot provide. My journey at Abhyaz has been a testament to the importance of hands-on learning in professional growth..
